"Extra! Extra! Read All About It. Keyword In Domain Name Makes Huge Difference!"
A month ago, I started to do do SEO on my brother's 6 year-old-never-visited-but-by-him-and-his-partner website. I dumped what he had and created him a new website with the same url (yes, you guessed it, his company name). I also created him a brand new wordpress with his 2 main keywords combined as the domain name.
I created 2120 backlinks for the old site, the one with the company name in the url
I created 269 backlinks to the new site, the one with the keywords in the domain name.
I did full, on page optimization for both sites. Both sites are going for the same keywords. They have pages and posts, both of them. The articles are different, however, the keyword density is the same (0.2% difference one way or the other); I aimed for 3%, but sometimes got 2.9 or 3.1, that kind of thing).
The only differences, then, are the number of backlinks and the domain name. Here are the results after 6 week. (The reason I'm writing this? The site with about 6 times fewer backlinks but the keywords in the domain name is doing better, or much better, on some of the keywords). The only conclusion I can come up with: keyword in domain name is very important. You have other conclusions?
The results are jaw-dropping, as I'm on the first page with a website that's not even finished yet and has no backlinks.
For the new site, only manually. 4 articles with 2 or 3 links posted on 10 (altogether) article directories. Some profile links with the url of the site in the "my site" section and 1-3 links in the 'about me' section. A couple of bookmarks, 5 comments on some blogs. Same as I did for the old one. Actually, I got all the links from the same sites.
