How To Prepare For The New Year

Last Update: December 13, 2011

Have you started a New Years Resolution Yet?

It is a good time to start thinking about what you would like to accomplish and ways to be a better person.

I usually try to improve on some aspect of my life, I do not necessarily try to change myself but I do work on getting rid of habits that seem to get in the way of my progress.

One of the biggest time wasters for me this past year was that I like to read blogs about marketing, I know that is a good way to learn but it seems like I have been spending too much time reading over the posts and comments and not enough time actually putting the tasks into action.

I know I am not alone it is a easy trap to fall into, especially with so many new products coming out that discusses one of the many aspects of marketing online.

So for the new year I am planning on focusing on just a few things at a time and to set each one of them up with a workable plan.

I was thinking that the top ways to prepare for the New Year is to decide on one thing that you want to do better in your life.

Steps that seem to work for me:

1.Write it down

2.Tell a friend or family member

3. Read over it everyday and if you get off track revisit your goal chart and get started on it.

Put Your Goals in Writing

I like to write things down and so I created a big white board that I put my tasks on and I look at it every few days to see how I am doing.

Let Others Make You Accountable

I also will tell my friends and family of my plans so that they will make me accountable, when they ask me how things are going or did I finish my tasks and then I find I am motivated to actually show them some results.

Set Reasonable Goals

The biggest solution to improving your life for the new year is to be reasonable with your expectations and reward yourself for the little accomplishments you make.

Pace Yourself for the Long Term

Allow yourself to learn and grow and be patient because nothing good happens over-night it takes consistent and persistent effort over a length of time and then that is when you really can see your successes come alive.

I think it's also important to make your goals attainable. It you get too ambitious, you just set yourself up for failure. Even one solid goal reached, is better than 10 abandoned. The feeling of success fuels more success. Good reminder. Thanks.
