Where to Find Pubic Domain Content

Last Update: December 24, 2011

As a freelance writer I have found that sometimes I need more copyright free images to use or I need some content written by experts.

One of the best places I have found for this information is the public domain because anything produced between 1850 and 1923 is free to use because the copyright protection has expired.

The hard part is finding where this stuff is located to use, I found a few resources that I wanted to share with everyone.

If you want to create info products about pirates, railroad trains, civil war items, maps, or you want to sell vintage or homemade items with antique images printed on them at eBay and Etsy then this will be useful to you.

The three best places are:

1. Library of Congress

2. Archive.org

3. Project Gutenberg

All these places have old books, images and movies that have been scanned into a internet archive and preserved for reading, downloading and re-purposing.

If you want to know more about how to use the public domain content, images, music and  videos go to Wikipedia:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain

Enjoy!

Glad you can use the info, I found out about this stuff when I was looking into the pre-war vintage lionel trains which sell as collectibles on eBay. Then I found all this other stuff and got lost in the internet archive, LOL
