What the Future Holds

Last Update: September 02, 2010

I remember watching a television show as a child. It was called the 20th Century hosted by one of the most popular news anchors of his time. WalterCronkite. If you are of a different generation, here is a small clip of the show that Walter hosted every week.

Black and White TV? That is correct. Color television was only a dream back in those days which many thoughtthey would never see in their lifetime. While many could not afford tobuy this new technology. So they depended on radio, newspapers andmagazines to keep them informed on the latest that was taking place. Locally or around the world. Communication was limited on a globalscale.

Every week the program focused on adifferent subject about plans that were in store to advance mankind inthis thing we call life. Including topics like space programs thatwould give man the ability to leave the earth’s atmosphere and exploreouter space. Then return safely a few hours later to share theexperience of their journey.

Does the name John Glenn ring a bell? I am sure your answer would give me a hint about how old you are. TheUnited States and Russia raced back and forth to be the first. If youask the citizens of either country who was the first to orbit the earth I am sure they would give you a different answer. However, it was thisone that the whole world seemed to have their eyes on.

Here is another little piece of history for those who didn’t get to experience this marvel in time.

So…. what is the point of looking at acouple pieces of time in history? When television or space travel isdiscussed among today’s generation they speak of HDTV and the SpaceShuttle. Showing how much humanity has advanced over the decades. That we have made many steps in little under a century. With technology and the dedication to improving life for all humanity.

We were all so caught up in theimprovements we saw happening before our very eyes, there was somethingelse fading in the darkness. Education gave us knowledge to be part ofthe expanding opportunities that were available. At the same time, asilent evil was lurking in the background. One that embraced so many of us we weren’t aware that it was even taking place. Something calledegotism.

Being part of an industrial country that was only moving in one direction, forward. We forgot the mostimportant part of life that is the true key for any population not onlyto advance, but grow together as well. It was during this time thatpeople started separating into groups. While one could afford a pair of expensive shoes, another group could not so they knelt before them andshined them.

The unity of bonding between fellow manand woman was slipping into the darkness. In an industrial nation of States that was known for the same with the first word in their name. …United United we stand, divided we fall. Which has proven to be theshort phrase that holds the most truth. The more divided we become, the more we fall apart as a body of one.

I hope this will be one of the mostimportant lessons for today’s generation to learn from their ancestors. That the only way we can keep humanity standing tall and proud is tobond with each other and work together. There is strength in numbersand team work can accomplish anything.

This is something I see blossoming everyday here at Wealthy Affiliate while it only continues to get stronger. The most important part for all of us to learn from this is really quite simple. Don't just practice it here while you are looking at that screen in front of you, ...practice it every time you step out your front door and are in public.

We can only survive the challenges that we face today as one, ...solid body that is united. Let us bond, unite and become ONE so solid that the strongest of evil will never have a chance of tearing us down!

Thanks Joan. I think you were right on course and spot on. We are all people, existing in the same life and the best way to make it through and enjoy it is by working together. We all have something in common, ...a soul. Which carries emotions, ambitions and the will to survive. The sooner we recognize that about each other instead of judging our neighbor, we'll become as solid as a rock.

I know I got off your point. We most certainly do have to stand together in the US, like an impenetrable wall. With all the "crazies" you know where, it's been like a run away horse.

I agree Matt, We do have to stand together, united. It's not just a patriotic thing either. It's humanitarian. We all need to recognize our similarities as people, and respect our differences. We're not all the same. Isn't that wonderful? And yet, we are all the same too. We all love our families, our friends, our traditions. We all have ambitions and just want to be happy. Sadly, greed has overtaken us, not just in the USA. Wherever there is an honor system, the temptation seems to be too great for some greedy people who can't think beyond their own appetite for power. My grandfather used to say you can only eat one meal at a time. Has anybody told George Soros this? I'm all for free enterprise as long as it is "responsible" free enterprise and not a "free for all". We all deserve a chance to achieve our dreams. Cause and effect.
