The 1 Year Wake Up Call

Last Update: May 24, 2011

Just a quick check in here to update my blog. 26th of this month I've been here a year.

Satisfied that I've learned what I need to be able to making sufficient money from the net.

I can rank sites but I can't monetize the blooming things.

Started scrutinizing what I've been doing and I've been doing too much of nothing.

Jumping around niche to niche. Firing websites on the first page of google without a clue of who my audience is apart from that their searching for a keyword phrase where I can park my site in front of them.

Unfortunately, since I don't know the crowd I'm trying to talk to their vanishing into cyberspace and I don't get paid. Boo-Hoo

I could sit around whining that I'm not making the set amount I wanted to or I could kick my butt into gear and actually do something about it.

That's what's happening. I figure the puzzles just missing a couple of pieces.

 1) I need to get to know my audience.

What am I doing about it. Picking 3 sites for my second year at WA and concentrating on them

2) Delivering what I should have been from the start

Keeping the contacts. The email scenario. What stopped me. Fear. Probably fear of failure and making an a** out of myself.

But ranking websites front page of google and not making much from them I figure I've already got that part covered. Yep, looking like a clown already to the tons of visitors landing on my site and thinking another crappy search result from google.

So it's time to up the antics. As WA folks say you have to take action, you have to fail to succeed.

So today marks the start of the new me on the net. Quality content, backed up with free opt in stuff and start building that dreaded but necessary email list. First product is in the works.

And I got me I nice fancy PO box incase i mess up badly email marketing and start getting hate mail.  :)

All the best

Robert

Hi Joan, Look forward to the day a lot of stuff can be outsourced. It does take forever to learn but I'm realizing the learning part is done by doing and not just reading tutorials.

Seems to be a process with the goal being to get it all moving at the same speed. You find that there are parts of IM that you like doing better than others, so you spend more time doing what you like and neglecting other important parts. When you have decent cash flow, you can outsource what you don't like to do, or what you don't have time to do. I'm usually a quick study, but IM has taken me forever. What's most annoying is when people who know nothing about the art of marketing say "Well, so and so is selling tag sale stuff on EBay and supporting the family with the proceeds, and did it from day one. It can't be that hard". Cute, huh?

Hey Robert. Gave me a chuckle. I been monkying around for a year also and ditto your thoughts on making this one a bit more ambitious and profitable. Best of luck!

Hi Craig, I'm determined to make the most of year 2 at WA. Back to the action plan it is. My long term goal was to have a success post in the forum by the 26th. Suppose the realization of what needs done could count.
