Google Handwrite Search App for Smart Phones and Tablets

Last Update: August 17, 2012
I always love discovering new tricks that my iPad or iPhone can do. Today I discovered Google Handwrite Search.

This Google feature was launched July 30th and is still in beta. The tablet and smart phone can read the words that you write with your finger or stylus on the Google search page. Even with poorly formed letters Google Handwrite was able to read what I wrote.

I introduced this feature to my co-workers today and some absolutely loved it and others did not see the benefit. One person said they just speak into their phone to search - why would they want to write it. Yes that is true and easy to do but sometimes it is not polite to be speaking to your phone in public.

This Handwrite app allows you to search with just a few strokes of your fingers. It is a handy feature that should make your searches easier. Below is a link to the tutorial. Enjoy!

Thanks, I didn't know about this feature. Now all I have to do is figure out how to install it.

Nice, thankfully they have Google Instant because I don't imagine I could fit too many handwritten letters on the screen!

The letters disappear as your write them and appear in the search box so you can write long keywords for search.
