Taking a pic of your screen?
I was wondering how potpiegirl and the rest of you good folks were taking a pic of your computer screen (aka "screen shots"). Never could get the hang of the whole "alt +print screen key" concept. Guess because I didnt know where it went nor how to retrieve it. So, I stopped trying to do it!
Then I found myself needing to do one on my blog. So, after some quick research, I found the answer.
So, in case you all want to learn how to do, I will list the steps below. The may seem long but, after I did it once, I was a pro. (I took screen shots of everything, literally!)
Here goes:
on your keyboard
you should have a button called "print screen"
my "print screen" button is to the right of the "F12" button
you can take a snapshot of anything on your desktop
even if you are playing a game(you will need to be able to pause the game first)
when you get something on your screen that you want a picture of (be sure to move the mouse arrow out of the way first)
then press "print screen"
this places the pic on what is called your clipboard
(you will need to pause a game first then press print screen then minimize to task bar)
click start
point to all programs
point to accessories
click paint
click edit
click paste
then you will see your pic
close by clicking x upper right
this will prompt you to save your pic / yes / no / or cancel / click yes / this should prompt you to select a place to save your pic (at this point first press the backspace button one time / this will clear the word "untitled" and allow you to rename your pic) you should rename to avoid confusion if you plan to make more pics this way)
(default should be your (my pictures folder) already selected for you
rename your pic in the box where you see "untitled" (file name) then click save
Some of you have programs to do this for you. Or maybe even know of some simpler steps. Anyway, I'm just trying to help the best I can.
