Procrastination 2

Last Update: March 06, 2012

Well, I wrote two Street Article's yesterday and had every intention of writing the next two today before and after work. The road to hell...LOL. I find creative ways to procrastinate so I can still fell productive. I do other things that need to be done in order to avoid the things I should be doing but want to put off. And I'm tired of writing --probably because every time I tell myself my article is going to be just around 400+ words, I end up with at least 800 words and sometimes more. I'm getting the feeling I go into too much detail. (Ya' Think???) One of Kyle's emails for the 30 in 30 Challenge said to write as many articles as you can in 30 minutes and time yourself. That is a REAL challenge for me. I am too verbose!

Okay, so I went to see my mom in the hospital before I went to work, so that's an acceptable excuse to put something off. I can live with that. But after work I really didn't feel like writing and there's always something else of at least some importance to do - like write a blog post...LOL. I have been meaning to get around to cleaning my turtle's tank -- poor thing is living in a swamp at this point. And it's not a fun job and it takes time and so I put it off. Tonight I put off writing by cleaning the tank. Yesterday I put off cleaning the tank by writing. At least I'm productive!

Tomorrow I'll write three articles and time myself to keep it short. So tomorrow's assignments are to not procrastinate and learn how to write a 400 word article in less than a half hour.

Wish me luck! :)

Ann, Don't worry about it. You're not a robot. I think the important thing is that you say it when you have something to say. Sometimes you have a surge of things to say, and sometimes you don't. The articles pile up anyway. Don't want to go against Kyle's teaching, but I don't know why a person has to write articles that fast. Quality is the important thing. Kyle's all about quality. You write good articles, and many of them. So there. Hope your mom is feeling better.

Spend the first 10 minutes organizing your thoughts. Write a rough outline and get your ideas down. I use Notepad for this. Then once you have your thoughts down, write away. Stick to your outline and you will get it done much more quickly.

No idea how I posted that twice. Ah well, sometimes I feel technologically challenged.
