No A/C Makes Steph Grumpy and Unproductive

Last Update: June 12, 2011

Late Thursday night, the air conditioning quit. Since the air conditioning is in a semi, this is kind of a big deal. I was cruising along in Ohio, late at night, and all I was getting was hot air. Not good.

Of course it went out late Thursday, because then my co-driver and I would have to sit all weekend waiting to get repaired. Sitting = no miles = no money. So, we struck a deal with the dispatch: get us a load with time on it to the Utah terminal, and we'll run this weekend and get repaired there Monday.

So, we're running, slowly, but a 1500 mile run is more money than sitting all weekend. It's hot out, 101 in Indiana at one point, and today it's 85 in Nebraska. With no a/c, we have to use the windows, which means it's loud in the truck. And loud means poor sleep.

I'm cranky, I'm tired, and I'm hot. And, I am so unproductive it's not even funny. This is the first time I've booted my laptop since the a/c went out, and I don't even want to do work. Just whine.

Sorry for your discomfort. I can't stand heat myself. Makes me tired and grumpy. I hope you've gotten some relief since you wrote this.

Bosselman's in Grand Island might offer you a little relief. Figure your on the 80. Eleven hours in the saddle, four hours swattin' flys and eight hours lying in an oven wondering why your so lucky. Sorry to here of your poor luck. Be safe.

You shoulda driven East. It never got warm here today. Just an nice overcast 70 all day. Sounds like we're in for some heat soon though.
Hope everything works out for you Monday.

It's winter down under in NZ and sitting here by a fire I feel for you:-) Seriously though an experience like that could be recounted in one of your emails to your subscriber list, used in an ebook as an analogy for some point you are making, or ... possibilities are endless. Any negative can be turned into a positive - sometimes profitably. But all that's on your mind right now is your next cold shower - I understand.
