AHA Moment Its The BLUE BOOK method of Writing

Last Update: October 08, 2010

I was answering a question in the forum today and had the best AHA moment ever.  They always tell us to write quickly, don't put too much thought into it, and how it it is like writing an eamail.  No more thatn 45 minutes. Yea, right is what I used to say, and can still struggle with from time to time.

The person I was responding to said how hard it was to stop writing like college essays, that kind of perfection is drilled into you from elementary school on, you write, edit, change the words to sound good, write edit until it is the best.

So, it hits me,  we shouldn't be writing like we did for the essays that were assignments---

We should write like we did when we had to fill up those essay test blue books!  You know, we all did it as some point, high school college, we had a few facts and had to spend 45 minutes writing and filling up one of those blue books!and sound like we knew what we were talking about and like we said BS our way to a grade, but it had to look good, use real facts just include a lot of filler.!

  • You do not want to put all you know in your articles, save some for the landing page.  Just like an essay test when you do not know all the facts, ( or forgot them!)
  • You need to sound like you have some authority.  On an essay test you are trying to impress the teacher/professor
  • The suggestion is to write for 30-45 minutes and not fret. Common essay test you only have 30-45 minutes to write  what you know.

So there you have it, write like you are in class and filling up those blue books with targeted blather!
