Week 3: Building Backlinks

Last Update: June 16, 2010

In order to earn $1,000 a month from one of my niches, I know I need to drive more traffic to my site and thus increase exposure to my ads and affiliate links. To that end, I've been working on building backlinks, following some of the ideas in  "Build Backlinks a How To Guide" in the Training Center.

My first stop was ezineArticles.com, where I'd signed up to contribute some time ago but never published anything. After editing my author bio to include links to my niche site, I  wrote a quick 415-word article on my topic and submitted it for publication.

Quality links from well-ranking sites are important for building page rank on your own site and getting indexed well by Google, of course, but sometimes we get so busy writing our content and building affiliate links that we forget to create the backlinks so necessary for success.

What's your link-building strategy?

Google are getting ever-fussy about the quality of backlinks so, articles are a great way to go. Changing the resource box content also helps so not too much of the same is being sent out there.

I use a combination of techniques just like Jay. My advice is to check out Jay's mind map on his magistudios blog.

Once you have several articles out there, you can take the url of the article and post it to Social bookmarking sites as a story. Propeller is great for this, but they do not accept urls from Ezines. Post an article to go articles, article base and article pool and use those links. If you do this on a regular basis you will have some great backlinks building.
