SEO Ranking Signals You Should Know About

Last Update: February 28, 2012

Hi everyone,

Here is a quick little infographic (courtesy of Search Engine Land) I came across about a month ago and had it scheduled to share with the WA family.

It really provides a good visual on what ranking signals search engines consider when ranking your web pages.

So here it is, enjoy and as usual feel free to leave your comments below and I'll get back to you.

Hi Joan, sure can. Essentially the graph illustrates what factors search engines (specifically Google) look for when trying to rank pages vs. those that will hinder your rankings, and it is using it's own symbols to apply these labels, as you would find in the periodic table. Let me give you an example... Quality Content (CQ) has a +3 influence, meaning having this on one's blog/site is key to getting good rankings. On the flip side you can have a violation on having content that is too thin (VT, which has a metric of -2) - in other words, very low value to the end user as well as very short lived rankings (if any). Hope this clear it up a little bit more, if not feel free to leave me another comment and I'll get back to you. Thanks.
