Human Nature and Change
Last Update: September 28, 2011
Could this be why "change" is often painful?
"All changes, even the most longed for,
have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of
ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another."

yes it makes sense. I think on a deeper level, we build a certain pattern of neurotransmitter release in the brain as we live our life, when we are forced to or voluntarily change this pattern is disrupted and that is what caused the pain. Not as severe, but sort of like trying to break addiction to drugs is a painful change. Your life is also in a sense an addiction.

The only problem is most of us don't leave anything behind. We carry it all with us as excess baggage.
