Whats Been Going On With Me
Last Update: July 25, 2012
Hey everyone its been a while since I wrote anything here at WA. I've been pretty busy with a couple new projects and trying to iron out an older project. Its a shoe site I started with my son and recently we realized it needed a face lift along with some other things. So that been taking up a good bit of my time.
But the main thing I've been doing is trying to learn seo, especially local seo. I have a basic understanding of seo but, I really want to be an expert at it. I know that its not going to be an easy task but I actually enjoy it. I've been mostly reading about local stuff though. That is an area I feel I would do well, mostly because I know a lot of small business owners. I've been hesitant to get started for a few different reasons.
The reasons being, I wasn't sure which city would be the best to start with and I don't know anything about google places. Also, I want to start in an industry or niche that hasn't been hammered with local seo marketers. Not to mention I don't know the differences between making a regular site or building a directory. Then the other day I caught a break that would put an end to all of my indecisiveness.
My Dad called and told me my Uncle needed a site built because the one he has is terribly ugly and the seo is even worse. The bad part is he just had it built fortunately it was done by a friend of his and probably didn't cost him much, if anything.
So I figured I would take some advice from one of Jay's WAbinars and build the site for free, this way I can get my services out there for people to see. It won't take a lot of researching because I've worked with my Uncle before. So I know the industry very well. The best part of the whole thing is I get some real experience and I get to help out someone in my family.
In the wabinar I talked about above, Jay doesn't say "give your Uncle a free site" If you haven't seen the actual wabinar I strongly encourage to watch it. Its called "The business of local" and it helped me a lot.
