Intelligence X 7

Last Update: May 19, 2012
Just received an interesting video from Brian Tracy. I liked it a lot, so I'm sharing the general ideas with you.

Tracy talks about different kinds of intelligence that we all possess. We all have many skills, but specific abilities outweigh others. He points out that we should not discount any of these talents in pursuing our goals. 1 and 2 are the only forms of intelligence even considered in our educational systems.

Some of these abilities are not tested in schools, and are frankly taken for granted, but they play a huge role in our ultimate successes.

1. Linguistic. We all need this skill. Without language, we'd have to resort to mime in order to communicate with one another. We need this kind of intelligence to write articles and sales copy. It enables one to learn different languages, and to write books and excel at any written or spoken material.

2. Mathematical: logical intelligence, skill with numbers. This kind of intelligence is necessary to be a scientist, or engineer, or a technician of any kind. It's also necessary to be an accountant or statistician.

3. Visual and Spatial intelligence: This is an ability to see how things will eventually look. An architect has to be able to visualize a building before drawing a plan. The visual artist sees a picture in his mind before picking up a pencil, a paintbrush, or a camera.

4. Musical intelligence: an ability to play an instrument, sing, write music, conduct an orchestra, and be a rock star.

5. Physical or kinesthetic intelligence: physical co-ordination. This aptitude is necessary to be a dancer, or an athlete. It also includes persons who can work with their hands, such as artists and craftsmen.

6. Social intelligence: is an ability to communicate well and get along well with others. This skill is needed if one is in sales, a teacher, a leader, a counselor, or in show business, such as a TV or radio host.

7. Intra personal intelligence: or introspection. This is a quiet objective self analysis that enables one to create their own goals.

Tracy is encouraging us to use all of these talents to improve anything we are doing, including our earning ability.

Thanks for sharing this! I can sing but never thought about it as some form of an intelligence. You gave a new insight. :)

And you can be a genius in any of these sub categories of intelligence. For example, Micheal Jordan could probably be considered a genius in Physical or kinesthetic intelligence.

Oh yes, for sure.

any of those appear to be taken directly from NLP. The others are just expansions of those NLP ideals.

Hi Craig, I had to look it up. Didn't know what it was. Sounds just like this. We humans are loaded with talents. Too bad in schools they acknowledge only reading, writing and arithmetic.
