The Next .Info, .Biz, .???

Just a quick blurb...I heard on the news that ICANN, the group that maintains the Internet Top Level Domains, has opened up the application process to add new TLDs. Looking at their site and the list of applications so far...
wow, there are some doozies on there! :)
Two apps for .LOL
Nine for .BLOG
Five for .BUY
Five for .FREE
Even one for .WTF
Ahhh, I'm sure 99% of them will be rejected but fun to see what people want to register!

Yeah, the applications for these started last year. The process involves several $100K and a 500 page application. I agree it will be interesting to see what people do with these, but I have always thought this was a big cash grab for ICANN and won't result in much.
ICANN has had no luck releasing some of the more popular TLD's...did you know that .travel rolled out several years back and nobody adopted this (no travel site). There is a reason for it, .com's and .org's get ranked, they get typed in, they are memorable, and they carry the most value.
