Trying to start again
Last Update: December 03, 2010
I've gone back to the start of the training, trying to pick up the threads again. New tasks have been added, so I'm trying to do them. I'm getting more confused by the minute. I read the Wordpress stuff in lesson 1 and don't understand a word. How to I tell Go Daddy I want WA hosting? The article gives no clue on how to do this.
I also find that as I follow links to what I'm told to read within a lesson, they lead to more links and more links. Eventually, I find myself deep in something that again makes no sense, and I've forgotten why I started reading it in the first place. I'm beginning to worry that this place is only for very experienced people and that total newbies end up drowning in a mass of words.

Have you reviewed the Action Plan from start to finish? As far as the question you had about Go Daddy, why not ask questions in the forum if you are getting stuck on something that is frustrating you. Remember that we are in this together and we are here to help one another. If I can be of any help, just ask.

Krys, don't worry, you have support here. I am absolutely "2" with technology myself. Luckily, this business is about marketing and you will pick up enough technology to back yourself up where you need it. I don't know what Jay has planned for future WAbinars, but I sure hope he does one on WordPress, and other software. Not intending to add to your overload, but it is very worthwhile to attend Jay's WAbinars if you haven't already. He has a way of making things clear and is very helpful.

First you buy the domain at godaddy.. Once you have the domain you come back here and set up your site and WA will give you 2 Nameservers. Nameserver1 and Nameserver2. Go to your GoDaddy Dashboard, click on your domain, then click 'nameservers' AND THEN click 'I have specific nameservers for my domains.' and enter the WA Nameservers. This will point your domain to the hosting here. If you get stuck just ask. I know it seems kinda complicated but it's really not. Try not to get discouraged, all the experienced people here started out as newbies. -Irma

Krys, It can be confusing if you click on all the links. Get a notebook and take notes to keep organized. I read through the lesson once without clicking on anything to get the main points. Then I go back and click each link. Make sure you open in a new window so that you can always check back to the original to remind yourself where you started. Three times through is usually the charm for understanding. If you write down specific problems you can ask them here, search for the answers in the forum or PM one of the low numbers for help. For now click on the Web Hosting Menu item and read those tutorials to help with your hosting issue.
