I'm not building a website, I'm building a brand

Last Update: October 11, 2009

Yes, it sounds ambitious, or maybe even foolish, but I'm kinda excited by the idea.
I've just bought 20 domains @ less than $1 each, all with a common word in the name.
I will use domain #1 to target niche #1.
Once that is set up, Ill move to domain #2 and niche #2. And so on.
I'll write articles for each niche.
Each article will link to one website.
Each site will have a common style, approach and tone of voice.
Each site will have entirely different affiliate products.
Each site will have links to all of the others.
Every article therefore has the potential to drive traffic to any of the other sites and not just the one that first hooked the visitor in.
I may not use all 20 domains, but even having 4 or 5 that are interconnected will be more effective than having them all separate.

Hi Mike - yes, it's all about maximizing your market presence. If you've done it in the 'real' world, you can do it in the online one. Good luck!

Hi Jake
I'm flattered. But you know what? Although I am writing this blog for myself, simply knowing others can read it keeps me at it and drives me forward.
As for your domain question... a domain is an address; it can be an address for its own website or it can be set up to forward to another. For example, I could buy www.skyboundriches.info and www.skyboundfortune.info and set up a separate website for each. Or I could set up just one site and point both domains at that site or at another with a totally different domain name, such as www.wealthyaffiliatewannabe.com.
What I'm aiming to do with my multiple registration is to have separate sites for each domain, but for there to be links within each site to the others. So, you can come to www.skyboundsportsproducts.info and see a link to www.skyboundsolarpower.info, click on it and be taken to a totally different site. Hope that helps. ;-)

Hi again Skybound, I find myself frequently looking at your page now haha, you have good ideas. I'm a bit confused about domains though...are domains essentially "websites?" And these will be all interconnected so you can send more traffic to each one?

Skybound,

Thats exactly what I've been doing in my realestate life....building a brand under a brand. Very effective and very important. I now need another challenge....so I'm serious about WA.

Cheers Mike
