after chasing my tail all night trying to get wordpress working on my free wa hosting i decided to check out hostgator and so far i am wowed beyond belief.  i got wordpress going in no time.  i still intend to use my free hosting but i have a feeling that it is optimized for use with site rubix.  i recommend that anyone feeling like all 4 wheels are on cinder blocks just go to godaddy and make up a domain buy it and play with it.  just pretend you're a kid and remember that this is supposed to be fun.  you won't make a cent if this doesn't make you smile.
