It Takes Money To Lose Money

Last Update: July 28, 2011

I was updating my word press blog this morning, thinking about traffic and how to attract more visitors to my blog. I'm not worried about monetizing just yet and I am seriously thinking about dumping adsense from the blog so I can start sneaking some affiliate links on there. One thing that turns me off from blogs is not being to see the content from the trees, forest or whatever scenic thing I'm supposed to be seeing. (Oh yeah, and while I'm at it:

  • If a tree falls in the forest and lands on you instead , would you make a noise?)

Now that we are out of the woods....as I was saying as I was deliberating on the notion of dumping adsense, I had one of those creepy feelings from long ago about expired domains, flipping domains, and using expired domain names with traffic.

I did that once with the idea being to drive  targeted traffic to my website and, boy, talk about a money pit. It never worked like I thought it would. It was the same time I was using PPC to get traffic. The ROI was a helluva lot bigger than the returns.

So. here I am back at square #1.

I hear all the time about people making it big, using money as a choice of marketing methods. I just wonder how many other people lose their butt when they try the same tactic.

I was one of those people in the second group. That's when I had money to spare.

The first thing I did when I started over was set a budget. The second thing I did was stop buying and start working. It's working better for me I suppose. The only investment I use now is time.

Please don't tell me...."Oh! Time is money!"  We'll go shopping together. Just let me get in the checkout line ahead of you. It's a hell of lot easier to pay for something with cash-in-hand  than it is trying to pay for it in words-from-mouth.

I guess all I'm trying to say is: If you think something is worth working for, after your initial investment keep your cash in your pocket. Don't go off and buy this or that to improve your blog, or website or whatever it is you are working with.

Just keep learning about how to improve in your skill and put any of your new found knowledge to work for you.

Invest in yourself. You're worth it

Peace
