Squidoo Etiquette
If you are new at Squidoo, there are a few basic things you should know.
First - read every word that Potpiegirl writes. Jennifer has a blog here at WA as well as her main blog. She is also all over the WA forums. Learn from her. Read, study, learn. Jennifer knows how to use Squidoo to increase our incomes. I continue to learn from her every day. In fact, I joined WA so that I can learn more from Jennifer!
but just in case you do not already know:
1. Fill out your bio on your Squidoo page. Tell us something about you. Your readers want to know why you are interested in your subject matter. (besides that, many serious lensmasters and Squidoo angels will not read your lens if your bio is not complete (I admit - I am one of those!)
2. Visit at Squidoo and be part of the community. We are using a free service there. Like visiting a public park, or a public library, you need to give something back. Visit 3 or 4 lenses every single day. Do not post your link in the comments section. do not say "nice lens". But do comment and say something relative to the subject matter. For example, "I was not aware that elephants cannot jump. I enjoyed reading your lens."
3. Go to SquidU. Introduce yourself. Ask for a critique. Welcome new lensmasters. Visit SquidU for a few minutes every day. You will be amazed at what you can learn there.
4. Read and re-read the TOS at Squidoo. Learn which subjects are simply not acceptable and play by the rules.
5. Read the top 100 lenses. Read the Answer Deck. Lensmasters are very generous folks. There are tons of lenses to teach you how to create the most amazing lenses ever! Study those.
6. Lensroll! Visit lenses on your subject. Then lensroll those lenses to your lens. That simple act helps us all get more traffic.
7. Remember there are over a million lenses now. That means a whole bunch of lensmasters are out there visiting, ranking and commenting on lenses.
8. And do ltune in to our radio show - Giant Squid Open Mike on Blog Talk Radio Tuesdays at 5 EST. This is a super way to hear real voices of other lensmasters and get to know some of the movers and shakers at Squidoo. We always have great guests and we learn something new every week.
