Article Directories are Dumb

Last Update: May 31, 2011

Article directories can be frustrating sometimes. Just when I think I've found a good one, they disappoint me. I was psyched about finding Article Click after they approved some articles in just two days and I got decent rankings for them. Then I submitted a bunch more. They told me I had to way 30 days. Bummer. Ok, I can handle it. Then two weeks later they just deleted the article. Lame.

I used to use Article Pool and Article Snatch quite a bit. Decent approval times and views. Then Article Pool disappeared off the map, along with my articles. I went through the hassle of re-submitting all my articles other different article to other article directories. Then they came back online three weeks later.

A1 article ignored two of my emails until I said I would remove my articles, and then denied making me wait almost two weeks for approval.

Article Dashboard, Article Side, and Article City all didn't reply to emails after I waited a month for article approval.

Nuts in a Jar.

For anyone who's interested here's some directories I can count on.

  • Street articles
  • Go Articles
  • Jabberdi
  • Articles Base
  • Article Blast
  • Amazines
  • Idea Marketers

Please help me add to this list to help me (and others) diversify article submission!

Interesting about free traffic systeym. I submitted a bunch of articles to FTS about a month ago and saw immediate drop in my site ranking. I don't know if Google saw the spun article-ness and dropped me or if it was a content problem. I'm a bit hesitant to use them again because of the drop in my ranking after using them. With all the hype of Panda update and anti spin content, it seems that FTS is a bit outdated. I'd like to use them, as it's a great idea, but you know, once bitten twice shy.

listening to Amon Tobin and wasted as usual. It's 3:11 in China.

I hear you, it is frustrating when you're trying to build up a diverse funnel to lead targeted leads back to your site and you encounter article directories who really couldn't care less about you. Squidoo and Hubpages especially, built on marketers' efforts and now they just kick us to the kerb =) I agree with the sentiment about building your own assets up - if you have keywords with less than 500 competing sites why not just place it on your own? Stick as many links in there as you want and enjoy the traffic!

I use articles primarily for backlink diversity, My 2 favorite right now are Street Articles and Articlesbase, because they save me time and they nearly always approve my articles in under 30 min or so.

I also like Free Traffic System for some extra backlinks , they are weak but help with diversity.

I also use Squidoo , and Hubpages for articles, since its instant and easy to edit, but remember only links to websites you own or most of the time your lenses gets locked

I am inclined to agree with Pete. Totally disenchanted with EZA because they're not getting the views. SA is good, but don't appreciate being limited... can't publish my own articles to my own site, or link to what I want. The former might not be SA's fault, just their concern about duplicate articles. Build your own directory rings my bell.

Make your own directory, or submit your articles to your own sites.. It helps build up the love with google, and your equity when you sell the site.. (If/when you sell the site) Also, your articles get published right away, haha
