I know I said I would.....goals revisited

Last Update: July 11, 2012
Just wanted to post these thoughts I had to day and see if it something other people go through and if it is not common to give the few people like me some encouragement. I have no focus when it comes to sit down work and if you read through some of my blog posts you will see this. I don't actually have a problem working just completing things.

I start 200 things and finish nothing. I am working on two websites right now and I really had to narrow that down and kick some of my personal online interests to the curb. What I have found is that once I get bored or frustrated with one site it helps me to have the other one to work on thus staying productive and not getting overly stressed.

Now I know I am not the only one like this and I am continually changing my goals....no scratch that it is not the goals I am changing I am changing the plan to reach the goals. I am adjusting it on a daily basis. I had these big goals at the beginning of the week and I have barely completed any of them but what did happen is I was gradually more productive each day as l learned how to manage my time and not get as distracted.

One of the things I decided on earlier this week was as long as I was trying and learning in the process that i would give myself a break if I didn't get my goals completed. As long as I am progressing I need to stop stressing out over the time factor.

I found a site related to my genre and learned a lot about what other people have to say about products and which ones were worthy of recommendation and which were not and even found a few new affiliates to advertise. At first I thought I was wasting time but because I don't have the products I was looking to endorse I wanted to learn about them. The more I became a part of the community the more I realized this will benefit me greatly in the future and it has already brought traffic to my niche site.

Then today I focused on writing a quality post reviewing the community the commission is really good for those who sign up and I actually have a possible friend signing up after she looks at the site this weekend. I also wrote a post on my other site to promote WA I have been meaning to get a quality post up for this but I wanted to write it from my experience here so It took me awhile to get a really good post up.

I am determined to make this work but my hubby has decided I need to get a real job by September so I am on the look out for a part time job I would enjoy. Until I find that job I am going to spend at least 30 hours a week working this program and staying connected with this community.

I am going to learn how to track my time because I don't have a job and I am usually only busy between the hours of 5pm and 9pm and a few hours Saturday morning. I should be able to make better use of the many hours of the day that I am not busy.

Okay that was not quick like I thought it would be and it was not organized well so one of my first goals should be to not be a flake and learn to organize an article into a more comprehensive read. Well off to get ready for dance class then back to work writing my next article.

Have a lovely day!

I adjust mine accordingly with the thought that life happens and always gets in the way. I like the bounce between two sites idea, and am headed that way myself. Sometimes it pays to site down for about a half hour at the end of your week and write down all you DID accomplish, even if it was not part of your original goals for the week, you will be surprised!

I would say it's not too bad to change your plan to reach your goals, unless it's a drastic change. If on Monday you decide to do PPC, and then tuesday switch to article marketing, then Wednesday do video marketing, and Thursday do social media marketing I can see how that would be bad.

If you're not familiar with any of those things then your results will be worse than you want them to be. You'll end up spending more time learning than implementing and taking action.

If you're bouncing around all over the place it might be a way of procrastinating and putting off doing something that you know you should do but might be uncomfortable doing because you haven't done it before and since you've haven't done it, it's outside of your comfort zone. At least that's been the case for me in the past.

If you're doing all those different things and it's a part of a schedule then I don't think it would be bad.

Since I've gotten into Internet Marketing my view has slowly changed. I used to think it was all about making money. Do these steps and then you'll make money. Should be easy, right?

I didn't realize how hard it could be to take consistent action and follow simple steps that were laid out for me. Now I view internet marketing more as a way to become a more effective human being/person. I'm still in it to make money, but I use it as a mirror to gain insights into myself.

I look at what I'm doing or what I'm not doing and then try to figure out why that is. I don't think about it for too long(that's another way I procrastinate), but just long enough to gain some insight.

It seems like you're very aware of what you're doing and what you want to accomplish. I would say just ask yourself if something is taking you closer to your goals or further away from your goals. Then go from there. There really isn't a right or wrong way of doing things, just what is effective for you. The only way you learn what works and doesn't work for you is by trying things out. Keep what works, stop doing what doesn't work.

Hope this is kind of coherent. I ended up typing a lot more than I originally intended.

You're doing awesome!

Thomas

P.S-Maybe you could find some jobs to do on fiverr or odesk that you could paid to do. It would help you hone your skills, and you would be bringing in some money. Just a thought.

Thanks for the wise advice. I have probably found dozens or ways to procrastinate without realizing it. I will be working on a schedule that is based on writing for now.
I just signed up for fiver and I earn a little from postloop and a few other paid sited but just like everything else I have to be careful not to spend too much time working on those things. I guess I could just set a day or a time limit per day to work on side projects.

Just go with the flow while articles, quite similar to the way you have written this one. An article with an individual flare is wanted more than any amount of intellectual effort put into it.

Thanks I will remember that when I am writing.
