StreetArticles – Do They Really Rank Your Articles on First Page of Google?

Last Update: August 14, 2012

A couple of months ago Kyle did a case study. I was the lucky winner, Kyle wrote an article that he posted to StreetArticles and had first page results within 19 minutes. Pretty impressive. The other day I was asking myself, wonder if I can do the same thing and get similar result...

Master Kyle is one thing but...

I decided to take on the challenge :)

I understand that any traffic is good, but for this case study I wanted to rank a keyword that I know get some decent traffic. So in this case I used the Google keyword tool and found my keyword.

Organic milk vs regular milk 1000 monthly searches, pretty good. I wanted to make sure that the competition wasn`t impossible so I head over to Google and typed in

”organic milk vs regular milk”

381 real competitors, that should be doable.

I wrote my article, submitted it to StreetArticles.

Kyle outline how to write the article in a really good way (in the original case study) so I will not get into that here.

When the article got approved I pinned it and G1+. I usually post it to Twitter but my account was acting up so I never did that.

To be honest the weekend came and I kind of forgot about the article. Then I got an email saying I had a comment on the article. Which reminded me to check the rankings.

5 days and this was the result :)

Pretty cool, second spot in Google for my keyword.

So yes, it is possible to get articles ranked on first page of Google with StreetArticles!

Here is the original case study post from Kyle:

Good luck with your articles,
Veronica

Wow, this is a fascinating subject! Looking at the comments below I'm wondering what actually is the BEST way to find out exactly where an article is in the Google ranks at any given time. Thanks for this Veronica, I went through that case study recently and have been following Kyle's method. I got my article on page one straight away and it's still there right at the top of page one. My keyword is "how to make drawing fun" if anyone wants to search for it and see if they find it in the same position that I find it at. Or does my search produce a different result for some reason? I'm interested to hear from you guys about this. Thanks again Veronica. Rob G:)

Thanks Carson, that's pretty cool ah! I've got another article, keyword is (gotye somebody that i used to know youtube cover) that first appeared on page 20 then page 12 and now page 34:) That must be the "Google Dance" you mentioned below. Fascinating stuff, can't wait to see where it ends up, it has more competition than the other one. Thanks for the feed back:)

Hi Rob, your article is ranked #7 when I just checked it, but like we have said here before it is probably jumping around a little bit. As long as it is jumping on first page right ;)

Good luck with your articles Rob,

Veronica, this article is ranked #95 on Google.com according to SEO SERP Chrome Extension. I don't know what can be happening wrong. Maybe it's what welshy's saying, you searched signed in a Google account and it messed up the results.

Hi, new article and it is for sure jumping around, it will settle in a few days or a couple of weeks.

Hey Andre, "What is SEO SERP Chrome Extension"? Is there an easier way to check SERP ranking, other than thumbing from page to page on the SERP's, hoping to find your article or website?

Thanks, -John

@ veronica.l
I do hope so, it already jumped ten positions, congratulations for your work!

@jdeHaan001
Yes, definetely, if your internet browser is firefox or chrome (recommended) install this extension I mentioned, very easy to use, you just type the keyword, the website and wich google you want (.com, .co.uk, .ca), etc... and it shows in wich position you are!
Combine it with "Google Global" and voilá!
I'll make a blog post about chrome extensions and wp plugins soon, stay tuned.
Other option, that I don't like very much, is whatpageofsearchamion.com, but I think it only shows results on .com and until page 10.

Hi Veronica,
First I want to say thanks for sharing this, but I'm getting total different results with search.

The article you mention is ranked #105 and ranked #96 is http://www.streetarticles.com/food-and-drink/why-does-organic-milk-last-longer-than-regular-milk-real-answers-that-may-surprise-you an older article.

Google will mess with ranking results if logged into any Google account, Cookie, Browser History and IP.

Unless something isn't right on my end.

I was just thinking that maybe it's just jumping around in the SERPs. Shared on G+ for you.
