Now beating 64,990 other results.

Just a quick note of success here from my Street Article efforts, and I'm pleased to say, this stuff really works. By "this stuff", I mean the Getting Started training. In fact, done well, I'd venture to say it 'overworks', or that you can actually do better than you might expect or might be led to believe.

Case in point. My latest Street Articles article was approved this morning. Although I did Twitter it twice, it's already received 22 views (though compared to the average for street articles, I am not sure whether that's amazing or just average).

However, when digging into the stats for it and then doing a few google searches, I noticed that I was coming up on the first page of Google for a keyword I didn't actually expect to rank that well for due to competition.

My target keyword for the article was one with only 390 indexed results (as mentioned per the training guide), but the keyword I'm coming up first for has 65,000 indexed results - it's the kind that usually you'd stay away from due to competition. So that's pretty exciting! Of course, who knows how long I'll stay on the 1st page. But I'm encouraged right now!

So, yay for training - and as a note to myself and anyone else - just gotta stick with the program. It works. No need to go buy anything else - just focus effort on what you gotta do, and the results will happen.

wow, that's ridiculous. I'm guessing you're pretty good at article marketing then. 64,000 results is pretty insane. Did you check it through a keyword rank checker? One you can use is:

It's totally free. Sometimes when you're logged into your Google + account or when you're not even in your Google + account, Google will actually move results around depending on how many times you've looked at something (or if you haven't). There you can make sure. I see you've been doing I.M. since 2006 so I'm sure you know.

That's awesome though. I'd have to say the best keyword I've ever ranked on solely based on competition is probably "article directories" via 1 of my SA articles at http://goo.gl/G2Ybf. I'm ranked on the 7th page & that has 3 million 580,000 competition against that. Proof's right here:

- http://whatpageofsearchamion.com/?keywords=article+directories&url=http://www.streetarticles.com/international/top-article-directories-for-seo-2012&tld=com&clean=1

Great job, especially since you hit 1st page. I'm sure even more articles will come even easier to you over time. Good luck.

P.S. Would like to see your article.

Well the funny thing is that I would not say I am very good - I was quite surprised myself to have these results so soon. I expected to maybe be on the first page for my main target phrase for the article, which was a 4 word keyword phrase again with around 390 results of competition (As estimated in the Wealthy Affiliate keyword tracker).

I didn't expect to even be in the top 5 pages for this other one - but I just checked again this morning and I'm still on page 1.

The weird thing though is that that website reports different results than google does if you just go type in a search for it. This is both being logged in or not, with different browsers. Google still shows 1st page for both keywords, but the other site shows page 2 or 3... strange! I guess either way I'm doin' okay!

Nice work on your rankings! 3.5 mil competition is pretty steep! Did you do anything special to help achieve better rankings (other off-page SEO links pointing at it or something) or has it just naturally gotten there by itself ?

As for the SA article, you can find it (hopefully on the first page) "wrought iron wall sconces" . I'll let you guess which keyphrase is the competitive one I was going for!

Thanks for your comment - and despite starting in 2006, I actually haven't been very focused until lately - so I'm sure there's a ton I don't know about how to do this well!

Hey...hook-up your Google + account to Street Articles & Google + your article! If you have Google Authorship on it, you'll get a lot more views. I checked and you're 2nd from the last position on the 1st page. That's pretty awesome. Thanks too. I'm honestly a little annoyed that SA doesn't have affiliate payout, but since SA is better built towards ranking high & I already have a huge follower base on there, & they rank like immediately I'm just sticking with them. As for affiliate pay-out, I make pretty much all that on my sites anyway. You see, I use little link wheels for articles I write for certain products. So I'm good.

Seth, there is no such thing as being good at article marketing. You will discover this over time (I think you are one of the quickest learners out there), that being good at article marketing or SEO is being good at writing quality content. The more it is looked at like a dehumanized process, the further your rankings are going to be from the top in the SE's.

That is awesome!! I have a little case study coming on another article that is indexed with over 100,000 exact results...it is happening and it is taking place every day within Street Articles. Congrats on your rankings and I look forward to hearing about your next success story!

Thanks Kyle! Excited to read that case study! It is indeed surprisingly easy to rank well! Could Street Articles be the new EZineArticles?

We are moving in the direction of "encouraging" quality authoring and you will see that with all of the initiatives at SA. It will continue to become an even better writing medium that will continue to reward quality authors.

I know I may have some bias, but there is no other writing platform that I would leverage to get traffic and rankings. It is a no brainer.
Telmari Premium
Fantastic! Hopefully these moves ensure it stays well-liked by Google rankings as well, though I'm sure that's one of your primary focuses. Now, if I could only get approvals faster... :)

That is going to be another focus of ours coming up, priority moderation to the authors that prove they provide consistent quality. Our focus is readers first and foremost, Google is secondary. Funny enough though, Google likes quality content though!

That's what I'm finding too. I feel like there's a lot of success to be had by just trying to find what people are looking for, and writing articles/content to help them find it. No keyword stuffing, no gaming the search engines, no link spam/article spinning craziness. Just writing great content people want.
kyle Premium Plus
The reader movement...that has always been there. People that have been writing like this for years have never been impacted by a single Google slap, Panda or Penguin update. The years of "robotic" marketing have left us.
Telmari Premium
And to that I say, good riddance. I never saw the point of trying to add to the internet what was already there in another form. I'm all about figuring out where creativity and originality meet customer interest and demand. Excited to learn more about what can REALLY help people, and find the best ways to provide it - and glad that that's what Street Articles' goal is, too!

Great to hear man! All it takes to generate revenue online is to get people to like you....that is all it takes to create a positive brand as well. People get lost in the process and forget about this.
Telmari Premium
Exactly. Or they get too busy trying to make money that they forget it's so much easier finding people who want to give you their money than to try to wring it out of them.
